Technology that grows with your business

James CrippsHow can you be sure that your business software and technology will grow with you and adapt to your changing needs?

In many ways, your business objectives have a direct correlation to your technology infrastructure and processes. Whatever system is implemented now has to also meet the needs of the business you plan to be in the future.

So, how do you make this happen?

As Head of Infrastructure at Enhanced, I believe the key is to truly understand the business processes and pain-points of our clients. We call this the ‘fact-finding’ process. At this stage we sit down and talk to you in real depth, taking the time to get to know your business and gain a full understanding of your objectives, network and preferred working methods. We use a ‘business first, product second’ approach. This may seem unorthodox, but it’s the only way to offer a truly tailored solution.

The next stage is presenting our solution design. At this point we explain how our proposed system works, and how it can offer genuine longevity and adaptability. We have a range of products/solutions and we will fit the best product to your requirements.

When demonstrating the proposed solution, we work closely with you to refine it until it is just right. The next stage is implementation, testing and going live. Needless to say, at this point we provide first-class aftercare in the form of expert advice, training and support.

A good example of this process can be seen in our involvement with Ministry of Cake, an award-winning company that manufactures high quality desserts.

In May 2014 Ministry of Cake bought themselves out of the Greencore Group and became an independent company again. The IT for Ministry of Cake was all provided via the Greencore group – and the move away from being part of this group provided the challenge of splitting out the IT infrastructure. This involved appointing an IT partner to undertake the implementation of a new system and a large scale migration. In addition all aspects of the solution had to be delivered within a four month period, with no downtime and limited disruption to business operations.

The first part of the solution was to sit down with Ministry of Cake and talk, in depth, about their future plans. Only then could we suggest the most suitable solution to enable connectivity between the two Ministry of Cake sites. It was decided that an MPLS solution would provide a secure and robust solution allowing all the key IT infrastructure to be located at the primary site, while being accessible over a high speed connection from the second site.

The second phase was to migrate away from a legacy email platform called Lotus Domino to Microsoft Exchange 2013. This was a large scale email platform migration between two very different email platforms which brought with it some extra challenges.

The migration was completed on time with virtually no disruption to the business. The system has now been in place since 2014 and has provided an effective and reliable platform for running the key business systems as Ministry of Cake goes from strength to strength, realising its growth plans with a future-proof system in place.

This is just one example of how, through our in-depth approach, we implement solutions to allow ambitious business plans. To find out more about how we can do the same for your business, get in touch today.
