Enhanced get on their bikes to help Sparkle Appeal
Posted on 2 October 2012
What makes 5 successful business men want to get on their bikes and cycle 235 miles in 20 hours losing 15,000 calories and 14 litres of fluid?!! A mid-life crisis? No to help raise money for the truly inspiring local charity, The Sparkle Appeal.
Simon White and Jeremy Gill from Enhanced together with 3 business colleagues took up the challenge, got on their bikes, left Poole and headed for Paris. After many uphill struggles and mastering the chaotic traffic around the Paris suburbs they eventually arrived at their final destination the Champs -Elysees, exhausted but exhilarated knowing that they had completed the challenge, on target and in one piece! They were supported by Mark Machin from Enhanced who drove the support bus and organised the much needed hostelries along the way!
The Sparkle Appeal is aiming to raise £5 million for a new hydrotherapy pool at the Victoria Education Centre (VEC) in Poole, Dorset. VEC specialises in providing education, care and therapy for pupils aged 3-19 years with physical disabilities, predominantly cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy. Some of the children’s difficulties are due to accidents, severe illness, tumours or strokes. VEC is the only charitable specialist school in Dorset that offers education, therapy and nursing (within an educational setting) for children with complex disabilities.
Simon White, Managing Director, Enhanced says “We are only too delighted to support this inspiring charity. We had some tricky moments on our 235 mile trip but it was all well worth the funds we are hoping to raise. Our target is £5,000 to be put towards the centre to enable The Sparkle Appeal to become closer to their target.”
Diana Newbury from The Sparkle Appeal cannot thank Enhanced enough. “On behalf of us all here and the children, I have to congratulate the team from Enhanced. We met with Jeremy Gill 3 years ago and they have been active supporters and fundraisers ever since. I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts. Whatever the challenge, including climbing the 3 Peaks, Enhanced is there giving 100% effort and 100% commitment.”
