A time critical merger with an entire I.T. refresh
City of Portsmouth College (COPC) was formed in 2021 as part of a merger project between Highbury College and Portsmouth College. The new organisation is a general further education college based in Portsmouth. It provides vocational and academic education and training, from first-step courses to university level foundation degrees, specialised services for business and education in the community.
THE CHALLENGE.
The college needed to merge two very different systems onto one centralised domain along with an entire infrastructure refresh. The biggest challenge with this project was the tight timeframe, it was crucial the project was completed during the school holidays to avoid any disruption to the autumn term.
THE SOLUTION.
Following a detailed scoping exercise, Enhanced started the project, migrating 80 servers across multiple campuses, updating and replacing old technology to provide the college with a much more reliable and robust I.T. environment.
THE RESULTS.
- 4000 devices enrolled on to the new domain
- Bespoke training for the COPC I.T. team on the new I.T. environment
- Project completed and tested within the timeframe with zero disruption to the academic year
- A new Backup and Disaster Recovery plan
