For over 35 years, Norco have established themselves as leading developers in manufacturing. They deliver lightweight composite structures and innovative GRP mouldings. The one-stop shop for patterns, moulds, parts and assemblies.
To enable the continued growth of the business, Norco required an expert IT partner. They would need to provide strategic advice in IT security for manufacturing. Data security is essential, as the requirements for the defence sector are critical. Therefore it was essential to be backed by an experienced IT partner. Before Enhanced, there were no in-house IT team and an ageing IT Infrastructure. It was imperative that Norco aligned themselves with an IT provider that would work for them. They required a team that could act as a virtual IT director. This would also include a robust ongoing support service.
Enhanced worked alongside Norco to understand the current concerns around their IT platform. We also looked at their aspirations for the next 5 years. We were able to present key operational changes. These were backed up by new technologies that would grow with the business. The systems would provide a resilient, secure and streamlined IT System. At the same time, the systems would meet specific IT security for manufacturing standards required by its customers.
A key requirement for Norco was to protect its highly secure data. Previously, the business had isolated specific data to single user devices. This hindered collaborative working, productivity and more importantly, did not enable the business to scale. Enhanced recommended Norco automate their data policies. Using the Azure Information Protection software, they still met their data compliance regulations. This ensured datas categorised based on the sensitivity of its content. This enabled Norco to limit and revoke access and enforce encryption of files.
In addition, Norco have leveraged core security technologies. The Microsoft 365 products include:
Enhanced worked alongside Norco to ensure IT security systems and processes are in place. These processes ensured the data met Cyber Essentials Plus certification. It also allowed them to meet government defence frameworks.
With multiple sites, Norco were able to build a private cloud platform. This worked across all locations to provide business continuity and DR.
Enhanced provided a tailored managed service offering at a fixed cost. This included proactive work to ensure that systems continue to meet expected compliance levels.
As a virtual IT director, Enhanced continue to provide strategic advice and options. This allowed Norco to enforce its security obligations whilst improving on its user’s experience.
Improved Efficiency – Centralised systems have enabled Norco to streamline operations. This led to automating processes and increasing productivity
Competitive Advantage – The Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation means Norco are eligible to bid for UK Government and MOD contracts, supporting business growth
Business Continuity – Norco have a resilient multisite system to support their Recovery Time Objectives, helping to keep them operational
